Gunslingers

Well, decided to use some of my time wisely and began working on the update to the gunslinger mural I did back in school. This is the main 'slinger I began with, the front focus of the image. I am hoping that with all the hours I put into it, this will truly be something I am proud of. Plus I need to get it done before football season starts back up.

The long weekend is quickly dissipating, as most of today was spent at my new in-laws house. Fortunately I like them a lot. Went to Olive Garden for the first time in years, and while the food was delicious and the service excellent, my waist has probably expanded two sizes. Not something to do every weekend, but not so bad every once in awhile.

Currently my beautiful wife is sitting on the bed playing the 360 (she works for one of the major video game companies). I must be the luckiest guy in the world, and I knew for sure that I was the day she came to me and innocently asked if we could get a second xbox. My response; I love you. Our tiny apartment in San Fran is starting to really look overloaded with electronics. While adding to your digital collection is awesome, reorganizing the cables alone took about 6 hours.

And yet here I sit on my mac laptop. Life is good.

Looking forward to a long weekend

Spent some more time today on the pirate desktop I promised, but I realized it may be a bit busy to be a desktop. Even so here is my most recent endeavor in the land of pirates. Definitely darker than the previous one, this desktop was a fun mix in textures for me. I think the next piece will be something different, the cutting out of the ship burned me out on pirates for awhile.

Work, work, work...

Since work has been a bit overbearing lately I decided to post something I did back in the college days, but still like. I have always enjoyed the almost mythical idea of an old western gunfight and maybe I will go back and update this some. Image 2.0 it, so to speak.

I am apparently also still on a pirate kick for some reason. Maybe it's due to the fact that National Talk Like a Pirate Day (NTLAPD) is rapidly approaching us on September 19th. I hope to get some more works up in celebration of this momentous occasion.

Hello blogosphere

After many years of consideration I have decided to start a blog. Obvious, I know.

Ok, so we're past that now, phew!

I should probably start with a little background about me to give you some perspective. I grew up in the self-proclaimed "heart of it all." Can I get an O-hi-O. Known as the land of the flat and the home of the buckeyes. Green as far as the eye can see, and a place to build a fire and camp out right down the street. Not a bad place to grow-up at all save one thing; winter.

Imagine opening your front door to a blast of frost. It's 6:00 a.m. and you have to go to work. Magically a foot of snow fell while you slept. You slowly creep onto the front stoop only to find that below this harmless looking powder is an ever so slim layer of ice, a remnant of the rain precluding the temperature drop. Catching your balance on the ice cold metal railing prevents the fall, but reminds you to get your gloves. You go back inside. Your snot begins to thaw.

Gathering your courage you take the next blast of cold with determination and begin "the trudge" to the car. The bottom 3 inches of your jeans are soaked through at the halfway point, with your socks coming in a close second. Success! You make it to the car and slam the door on the onslaught. It's still very cold, so you start the car quickly and turn the heater on low. High is no good, you'll only get a surprising burst of the elements you meant to leave outside. Now you sit and try not to think about it for the next 5-10 minutes it takes the window to thaw while searching for your ice scraper. It's all in the elbow.

Enough for now, I have strayed from the point. Needless to say I have been in San Francisco for nearly 7 years now and the weather is amazing. As may be apparent I named this blog digital exhaust because sometimes there are stories that you like to tell, images you like to share (did I mention I'm an art guy?). Who knows what the next post will be on, or for that matter when. After all, I'm an art guy.

create.

p.s. Oh and to kick things off here's a desktop I was inspired on the other day. May work on it some more...
